Head of Underwriting

Our client is an Irish-owned company, specialising in bespoke insurance solutions within the public service, education, and health market segments, making them one of the largest liability insurers in the market. As experienced underwriters of major liability, property, and motor risks, they insure some of the largest risks in the State, including those in the public sector and complementary markets in the semi-state and private sectors. Our client is searching for an experienced to professional to take on the role of Head of Underwriting

 

About Your New Job

  • As Head of Underwriting you will lead the underwriting and product solutions function while driving company strategy and performance, and holding responsibility for achieving underwriting growth, shaping product strategy and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • You will develop the company’s product suite and ensure enhancement and evolution of lifecycle management, and stay ahead of market developments to inform product underwriting.
  • You will lead the drafting of all customer-facing documentation, while also maintaining contract certainty through sound policy wordings and endorsements.
  • As Head of Underwriting you will be underwriting new and existing business profitably, including large and complex risks, as well as building trusted relationships with members, customers, and industry stakeholders.

What Skills You Need

  • Established market credibility and influence within the Irish insurance industry, with proven success in a senior underwriting role .
  • Extensive expertise in P&C products, pricing strategies, and risk assessment.
  • Hold an excellent understanding of Irish regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, develop, and build technical capability within teams.
