About Your New Job

  • Supervision: Supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks, kitchen staff, and other food service personnel.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to all contract requirements, Army regulations, and food safety standards.
  • Operations Management: Manage food preparation, serving, and cleanup operations.
  • Inventory Control: Oversee inventory control and ordering of supplies (excluding government-furnished items).
  • Maintenance: Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for kitchen equipment.
  • Training: Conduct training for food service personnel on sanitation, HAZCOM, headcount procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, including equipment logs, headcount reports, and incident reports.
  • Customer Service: Address customer complaints and resolve issues promptly.
  • Safety: Enforce safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with government representatives (COR, Food Service Officer).
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit required reports, including Strength and Feeder Reports.
  • Staff Management: Manage personnel schedules and ensure adequate staffing levels.
  • Performance Evaluation: Conduct performance evaluations for subordinate staff.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with uniform and hygiene standards.
  • Remote Site Management: Manage remote site meal preparation and logistics.

What Skills You Need

  • Proven experience as a Head Cook or in a supervisory role in a food service environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles and regulations.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with inventory management and ordering.
  • Proficient in using computer software for record keeping and reporting.
  • Food Handler Certification, ServSafe required.
  • Ability to pass required medical screenings (TB Med 530).
