About the Role
As a financial accountant you will be responsible for the below activities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly management accounts and annual financial statements in line with SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice) standards.
- Budget Management: Collaborate with departmental heads to create, monitor, and manage budgets.
- Audit and Compliance: Oversee external audits, ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Grants and Funding: Manage grant applications, reporting, and funding allocations to ensure alignment with the charity's objectives.
- Payroll and Tax: Handle payroll processing and ensure compliance with PAYE and VAT regulations.
- Process Improvement: Develop and improve financial systems and processes for enhanced efficiency and accuracy.
What you Need
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in financial accounting, ideally with exposure to the charity or non-profit sector.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including familiarity with SORP.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Excel.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
