They are currently looking for an enthusiastic & ambitious Junior Estimator to join the well established team.
About Your New Role
As a Junior Estimator you will support the senior estimating team in preparing accurate cost estimates for our projects. You'll work closely with the project and sales teams to help review plans, assess material needs, and obtain quotes from suppliers. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong interest in cost management and a desire to grow their expertise in the interiors industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the project and sales teams in reviewing architectural drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Understand design requirements, materials, and bespoke furniture needs.
- Help calculate quantities of materials required for each project.
- Obtain quotes from suppliers for both bespoke and off-the-shelf furniture.
- Assist in including installation costs, such as carpenters, fitters, and laborers.
- Support in identifying cost-effective suppliers that meet project specifications.
- Help assess project timelines for manufacturing, procurement, and installation.
- Contribute to estimating labor hours and potential overtime costs.
- Assist with identifying potential project challenges (e.g., material delays, design revisions) and flagging them early.
- Help factor in fluctuations in material costs, transportation costs, and other variables.
- Work with the senior estimating team to prepare detailed cost breakdowns (materials, labor, transport, overheads).
- Assist in presenting cost options (standard, mid-range, premium) for client proposals.
- Support the sales team in presenting proposals and responding to client questions regarding cost and timelines.
- Track actual costs throughout the project to ensure they align with estimates.
- Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and participate in training and development opportunities.
- Adhere to internal quality standards and ensure compliance with relevant procedures (ISO9001/14001/45001).
- Utilize software tools such as Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and Exchequer to manage estimates and track progress.
What Skills You Need
- You must have a minimum of 6 - 12 months estimating experience within the construction / engineering industry.
- ESSENTIAL you have worked on Public Tenders previously.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction, or a related field, or currently studying towards one.
- Strong interest in cost estimation, construction processes, and the interiors industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel is a must).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with different teams.
- A proactive, eager-to-learn attitude and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
