Our client, a well-established and growing business based in Dublin 11, is seeking an ambitious Senior Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused accountant who wants to take ownership of the finance function, manage a finance team, and gain the experience required to progress into a Financial Controller role.
Candidates must come from an industry background, ideally within manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, logistics, engineering, construction or a similar operational environment. Applications from candidates moving directly from practice will not be considered.
The Role
This is a broad and hands-on finance position where you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of the finance department while supporting senior management with financial reporting and business performance.
You will oversee all aspects of finance operations and ensure the delivery of accurate and timely financial information to support strategic decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the month-end close process and ensuring deadlines are met
- Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Overseeing all day-to-day accounting activities across the finance function
- Managing and developing members of the finance team
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining strong financial controls
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management activities
- Monitoring business performance and providing meaningful financial analysis
- Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Assisting with year-end accounts preparation and audit processes
- Managing relationships with auditors, banks and external advisors
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and operational efficiencies
- Supporting senior leadership with strategic planning and commercial decision-making
- Taking ownership of finance projects and process improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience working within industry is essential
- Background within manufacturing, distribution, logistics, supply chain, engineering, construction or a similar sector
- Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring finance staff is desirable
- Excellent understanding of financial controls and accounting processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Commercially minded with a proactive approach to improving business performance
