Lab Administrator

Job description

The Laboratory Administrator will be part of the Laboratory Operations Team, focusing on
sample receipt, sample queries, sample assigning and sample preparation. The position will
support all aspects of laboratory operations and will collaborate with cross functional teams
(internal and external) to ensure the highest quality genotype data is delivered to the
customer and ensure that all activities are conducted in accordance with the Quality
Management System (QMS).


Specific Responsibilities
Responsibilities for the role may include but are not limited to:
• Receiving in, validating and assigning samples according to the relevant SOPs

• Processing samples in the necessary timeframe to ensure that required turnaround
times for reporting results are achieved.

• Identifying and reporting non-conforming work to line manager and support the
necessary root cause investigation and close out of Technical Errors/Non-Conformances when required.

• Preparing primary samples for DNA extraction as per the relevant SOP, ensuring all
quality checks are conducted to the highest standard

• Maintaining and suggesting improvements to sample management and storage
systems

• Processing samples to ensure the ICBF non-reported and invalid lists is processed in
a timely fashion, when required

• Training of new laboratory administration staff

• Supporting the lab's quality management system by ensuring that working practice
is in line with ISO17025 standards and/or other relevant accreditations.

• Observe all relevant health and safety regulations.

• Participating in annual performance and development appraisals and agree on
personal targets and objectives with line manager
