Financial Controller- Life and Pensions background

Job description

My client within the life and pensions sector currently have a requirement for a senior finance manager within the same industry to join their growing team. Along with being a qualified accountant with the above background, you will have extensive finance experience including a strong regulatory background and exposure to MiFID. The role will help to ensure that the financial performance of the business is accurately reported, that regulatory reporting requirements are all adhered to, and that stakeholders are fully supported to help identify and implement future business strategies.

• Manage the preparation and timely submission of regulatory returns
• Coordinate closely with the compliance team
• Manage required reporting and submissions on ICAAP
• Oversee any required changes to reporting resulting from implementation of MiFID II
• Present annual statutory accounts on a timely basis for board review and approval
• Preparation and interpretation of standard monthly management reports
• Ongoing strategic business projects
• Preparation and review of actual performance against budget and prior year
• Preparation of annual budget and monthly forecast information
• Oversee all monthly revenue & cost reporting in the Oracle general ledger
• Coordinate closely with the Revenue and Cost Reporting managers on all month-end close
• Ensure full compliance of reported results
• Ensure close balance sheet management, and to include the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist in the annual external audit and statutory account preparation

• Qualified Accountant with a life and pensions background 5 years +pqe
• Strong human capital and pensions knowledge
• Exposure to MiFID
• Highly computer literate with superior skills in Microsoft Excel, and knowledge of accounting packages e.g. Oracle E-Business Suite, Hyperion, etc advantageous
