Production Manager

Job description

My client that is a leading provider of fit-out services & equipment to all retail and commercial sectors. This is a full time position and the company is based in Dublin West.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:   

  • Ensure production and shipping schedules are achieved and consistently meet company and customer requirements
  • Ensure all equipment documentation is maintained and up to date and in accordance with the quality system
  • Manage the daily production schedule as well as managing all aspects of the daily production plan and planning process
  • Manage, deliver and report on departmental KPI’s
  • Ensure that all H&S standards are adhered to
  • Ensure all stock joinery consumables and items are in stock prior to when they are required
  • Support to the General Manager as required 
  • Take an active role in the company continuous improvement initiatives and any other similar projects
  • Co-ordinate effectively with the warehouse, Sales, Customer Service and external customers
  • Quality checks on all jobs at all stages of production
  • Work very closely with warehouse and dispatch and installation teams and ensure all items are handed over to the high standards required.
  • Deliver on the key performance metrics and strategic objectives for the relevant production area
  • Manage resources to deliver on the production and shipping schedules which effectively achieves output, sales and customer service targets 
  • Ensure all aspects of work order packages and documentation are accurately reviewed in addition to time sheets and material reconciliations and are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Maintain effective open communication within the team and foster cross-functional relationships
  • Build a motivated, competent and results focused team and work with other departments to develop, train and up skill the team
  • Promote a positive approach to Quality amongst employees, while fostering an approach to continuous improvement /6 Sigma practices
  • Briefing employees of daily/weekly jobs or roles
  • Facilitate investigation, trouble shooting and reporting on system failures, product defects and customer complaints 
  • Support new product introductions and change procedures working in conjunction with QA and Technical Departments
  • Maintain work areas, equipment and supplies in a manner, which conforms to the requirements particularly quality, housekeeping and safety
  • Actively promote and participate in improvement groups, to improve quality, reduce costs, eliminate waste and improve working methods, conditions and communications
  • Responsibility for the flow of work through the workshop
  • Day to day management of production line and associated operators maximising production capacity and resources
  • Monitoring of productivity and performance of the department
  • Compilation of daily, weekly and monthly reports to track and document efficiencies and identify opportunities for improvement of run rates
  • Planning and maintaining running costs within the budgetary constraints
  • Conducting of the Appraisal and Review process for production staff with regular assessment of performance levels and achievements
  • People management of the production area with regards to resourcing, manpower and performance management
  • Participate in management meetings regarding product quality and processes
  • Ensuring that the highest levels of Service, Quality and Workmanship are maintained
  • Drive adherence to all HACCP systems
  • Assist with development of training plans for new product builds
  • Drive a culture of excellent adherence to Health & Safety of all employees through the maintenance of a safe working environment
  • Meet all targets and measure and review KPI’s in order to achieve business plan.

 Requirements of the Job: 

  • Trade Carpentry qualification essential
  • Lean Manufacturing/ Six Sigma experience/ qualification an advantage
  • Full driving licence is a must
  • Previous people management experience essential
  • 4+ years relevant experience essential
