Job title: HR Manager – Production (12 month FTC)

Job location: Co. Galway

About the employer:

This role is based within a multi-national company in Co. Galway, this organisation has a large presence in Galway and offers employees excellent benefits and working conditions.

The HR Manager is responsible for a broad range of strategic, tactical and operational HR activities within Production. This includes; Engagement, Retention, Recruitment, Comp and Bens, IR and ER.

The successful HR Manager will have the following skills and experience:

  • 3rd Level Degree/Masters in HR or related discipline

  • Min 8 years within HR related roles including excellent Trade Union and ER experience (with a min of 2 years experience or as a Senior BP or HR Manager responsible for leading a team).

  • Previous Management experience is desirable.

  • Proven experience of working within a manufacturing environment is desired.

  • CIPD qualification is preferred.


The responsibilities of the successful HR Manager will include the following:


  • Strategic Management

  • Operational Management

  • ER & IR

  • Developing a strategy to attract and retain employees and ensure they are enabled and energized to do their jobs.

  • Convert business strategies and objectives into HR strategies and action plans.

  • Implement Group initiatives and corporate lifecycle processes.

  • Partner with Production management to understand and support business needs in terms of skill-sets and manning.

  • Partner with T&D team to ensure Training and Development of Operators, Technicians and Supervisors.

  • Partner with Total Rewards team and Production Management to ensure pay/benefits are in line with the market.

  • Manage union pay negotiations.

  • Provide full HR support and advice to management.

  • Provide expert HR advice to managers in dealing with HR related matters.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of, and act on any changes to, employment legislation and Group Standards.

  • Oversee and regularly review induction programme for Production Operators, Technicians and Supervisors.

  • Manage relationships with agencies to ensure effective and efficient recruitment and onsite employee management.

  • Manage Industrial Relations proactively and ensure excellent relationships with all key stakeholders.

  • Report on key metrics, propose and implement improvements (e.g. absenteeism, turnover and engagement).

  • Contribute to Site specific HR projects

  • Promote and foster positive Industrial Relations/Employee Relations (IR/ER) and develop open communication processes with trade union/staff representatives to ensure a partnership approach to problem-solving.

  • Manage operational IR/ER issues which arise e.g. investigations, disciplinary, grievance procedures)
