Lead Controls Engineer

Sigmar Recruitment have an exclusive opportunity for a Lead Automation Systems Engineer to work with our globally renowned client in Cork. This is a permanent role offering an outstanding salary & benefits package.

The successful candidate will be report directly to the Automation Systems Engineer Manager. The role will be field based, working on a variety of customer sites across Cork City and County as well as some sites across the wider Munster area.

Core Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate and execute routine and complex system upgrades as well as preventative and corrective maintenance across the client portfolio
  • Lead small to medium Process Solutions teams ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Produce and provide approval on design documentation for projects
  • Provide technical support, leadership and expertise to the global Engineering Services Team
  • Communicate technical concepts and solutions to customers in a way that they are easily understood
  • Validate hardware, software, equipment, materials and services in line with SLA’s
  • Work with the estimations team to refine proposals for presentation to customers or account managers
  • Recommends quality and efficiency improvements, sharing technical knowledge back to local teams

Technical Competencies:

  • Honeywell TPS & Safety systems & Honeywell Experion PKS OR DCS (Distributed Control Systems) experience – Delta V/ABB/Emerson
  • Honeywell SCADA technologies
  • Experience working with a range of PLC’s
  • Cisco systems
  • Microsoft systems
  • Industrial Networks (Ethernet, Modbus, OPC)

Candidate Specification:

  • Strong HSE mentality and approach to work
  • 8-10 years industry experience (ideally within oil & gas but open to other industries)
  • Degree qualification in relevant Engineering field desired but not essential
  • People management experience
  • Deep understanding of Control Strategies
  • Working knowledge of Advanced Process Control
  • Exceptional problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and SLA’s
  • Full, clean EU driving license
