Chief Executive Officer

The Wheel is Ireland’s national association of community and voluntary organisations, charities and social enterprises. We champion the role of Irish charities and community organisations in building a flourishing society and support them to do work that has a positive impact on our communities and individuals.

The Wheel represents its over 2,200 members, from large charities to smaller voluntary groups and social enterprises, with a staff of 30. We support the sector through delivering a suite of high-quality services from policy development and campaigning, skills and leadership development, networks for the community and voluntary sector through to provision of information services and delivery of special programmes. Importantly, The Wheel represents the sector in a range of advisory groups established by government.

We are now searching for a dynamic CEO to lead the organisation and deliver on The Wheel’s vision to create a thriving charity and community sector at the heart of a fair, just, and inclusive Ireland.

Required experience/qualifications

  • Degree and/or relevant professional qualification.Masters level is desirable.

  • 10+ years’ experience working at senior management level within large and complex organisations

  • A thorough understanding of the key issues affecting the charity, community, and voluntary sector in Ireland.

  • Significant leadership experience in business development across the Charity and Community sectors in Ireland.

  • Proven ability to make difficult and challenging decisions that support strategic aims and long-term vision.

  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team towards the achievement of desired outcomes.

  • A successful track record of working with a membership organisation.

  • A successful track record of managing change and digital transformation.
