Congratulations to our COO, Frank Farrelly, who was elected President of the National Recruitment Federation on November 10th 2016. Taking up the position Frank commented “I am delighted to be taking up the mantle of NRF President for 2016-2018. I am grateful to my predecessor Barbara McGrath for doing such sterling work over her term as president. Barbara has been a brilliant ambassador for Irish Recruitment. She has left us with a strong platform to continue developing into the future and I am proud to have served under her leadership.” “As an industry we do great work for clients large & small across the country, but we cannot stand still. We need to continue to raise our standards, be innovative and provide real value to our customers. The NRF plans to do this through improving education and through increasing our contribution to the skills and recruitment agenda.” In the last 7 years Frank has been a committee member, Treasurer and Secretary for the National Recruitment Federation in Ireland, before being elected Vice President in 2014. He was part of the team that lobbied Government on the Agency Workers Act, Zero Hours Contracts and ‘If & When’ contracts. Frank will be supported in his new role by new Vice President Louise Nolan. Louise is the Co Owner and a director of The Production People. We wish Louise every success in her new role. About the NRF The National Recruitment Federation is a voluntary organisation set up to establish and maintain standards and codes of practice for the Recruitment Industry in Ireland. Founded in 1971, the NRF seeks to provide its members with the best possible service in terms of support, training, communication, advice sharing and problem solving and in doing so to promote professional competence within the industry. NRF also acts as the voice of the industry lobbying at National and European level in relation to legislate changes that impact on the NRF’s members.
Sigmar Recruitment and William Fry held a breakfast briefing to discuss ‘Competition & Compliance – The New Public Sector Talent Landscape’ on Friday the 23rd of June. Experts from various backgrounds and sectors discussed the key features of the Protected Disclosures (Whistleblowing) legislation, and what employers must do to comply and/or protect themselves. Best practice assessment and selection strategies in the public sector were also discussed such as how to maximise objectivity and fairness in your assessment strategies and to understand how potential candidates may fit into your organisation. Finally the ways we can make a real difference through the process of recruitment and the key challenges that we face in getting not just the selection decisions right but in maximising the opportunities for enhancing the well-being and overall performance of the organisation were teased out. Sigmar Recruitment were honoured to win the award for Best Corporate Social Responsibility at the National Recruitment Federation (NRF) Awards 2016, which were held on Friday the 2nd of December. Presented by Gavin Duffy, the awards ceremony was held at the Shelbourne Hotel where 400 of Ireland’s leading recruitment industry figures were in attendance. The awards are designed to identify and reward excellence in recruitment in Ireland. “We are delighted to receive this recognition from our industry peers given the huge contribution the recruitment industry as a whole makes to society. An Taoiseach Enda Kenny officially launched The Talent Summit 2017, which will took place on March 1st in The Convention Centre Dublin. Speaking at the launch An Taoiseach Enda Kenny said “The Talent Summit has helped drive the national employment agenda and has been important to the labour market recovery in recent years. Sigmar picked up awards for HR Supplier of the Year and Best Recruitment Agency and HR Team Partnership. Well done to everyone who was shortlisted and all the winners on the night.
The Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme, in association with Barclays Bank Ireland, recognises indigenous Irish companies across Ireland which are operating at the highest levels of business performance. To celebrate winning the fantastic accolade for the second consecutive year members of Sigmar staff attended a gala dinner where they were joined by over 900 people from the Irish business community. Ireland Gateway To Europe (IGTE) returned to Boston for the third time in five years, hosting 11 events over 4 days from April 19th-22nd 2016. Sigmar Recruitment announced the creation of 150 new jobs to service its new Centre of Excellence. The announcement was made by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD. The jobs were announced as part of the company’s expansion plan to deliver a wider portfolio of services globally and will bolster the position of the company as Ireland’s leading independent recruiter. These new positions will more than double the workforce by the end of 2018. Sigmar Recruitment is on track to deliver 50 of these new jobs by the end of this year, with another 50 by the end of 2017 and a further 50 by the end of 2018. Sigmar is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through Enterprise Ireland. Making the announcement Minister Mitchell O’Connor says: “Today’s announcement that Sigmar Recruitment, a highly innovative Irish company, is creating 150 new jobs in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Kerry is great news for the country. Through our Regional Action Plan for Jobs, I am committed to ensuring jobs are created in every region in Ireland. These new jobs will contribute greatly to the prosperity of communities across the country. Sigmar is a great example of the type of company Enterprise Ireland is working with. I warmly congratulate Adie and his team and wish them continued success for the future.” The jobs are in recruitment, sales and digital marketing at both experienced and graduate levels with a significant number of positions available in locations outside of the capital to include Cork, Galway and Kerry. The establishment of the Centre of Excellence is largely due to an uplift in demand for talent by US companies who are expanding internationally from Ireland.
