Sigmar Recruitment led an Irish delegation of 60 executives from 27 Irish organisations to Londonin april. The group took part in 3 events which featured over 20 speakers from the world of politics, business and sports. The Ireland Gateway To Europe trip, to promote Ireland to UK businesses, happened just a week after British Prime Minister Theresa May triggered Article 50.
Ireland Gateway To Europe 2017 launched with a reception on April 6th at The Goring Hotel. Robert Mac Giolla Phádraig, Sigmar CCO, moderated a discussion around the relationship between Ireland and Great Britain as it is now and what it is likely to be through a political, business and cultural lens. The panel included former Taoiseach John Bruton; Willie Walsh CEO, IAG; Bob Casey, CEO of London Irish RFC; and Niamh Breslinfrom IDA Ireland.
The next morning the group hosted a Financial Services Breakfast Symposium with 150 guests in The Bloomsbury Hotel to showcase why the world’s best companies choose Ireland as their base for EMEA operations. This was followed by a business lunch hosted at Notre Dame University in London. Speakers included John Bruton; Dan Mulhall, Ambassador of Ireland to Great Britain; Dr. Loretta O’Sullivan, Group Chief Economist at Bank of Ireland; Denis Staunton, London Editor of The Irish Times; Philip Wood CBE QC (hon), Special Global Counsel, Allen & Overy LLP; and Tad Becchetti, Bank of America. Sigmar CEO, Adrian McGennismoderated the panel discussion on getting the right talent and property in Ireland.
