Structural Design Engineer
Structural Design Engineers are generally degree qualified civil or structural engineers who specialise in the design of structural elements of a building project. They carry out calculations and analysis on various structures and materials such as steel, concrete, timber and so on. Structural Engineers often focus on a particular type of project such as high rise or wastewater facility structures but it's common in Ireland for them to work across a range of projects - residential, commercial and so on. Structural Engineers generally work for firms of consulting engineers and many reach chartered engineering status which allows them to take a leading role in engineering teams within their firm.
