Quantity Surveyor

A quantity surveyor is responsible for the financial tracking of activities on construction projects. A QS compiles bills of quantities, as well as carrying out estimating and dealing with contract administration. During a project a quantity surveyor may be measuring quantities and materials on site, they regularly engage in negotiation with various stakeholders, and also deal with the settlement of final accounts at the end of a project. Generally a QS will hold a third level qualification in quantity surveying or construction economics. There are plentiful career opportunities for quantity surveyors in the construction sector including jobs with main contractors, various subcontractors, and professional quantity surveying firms.
