Construction Project Manager

A project manager is ultimately responsible for the overall success of a project on the basis of time, quality and profitability. A project manager working for a main contractor will often have worked as a site engineer and senior engineer having secured a third level qualification; however, quite a few project managers also come from a trades background in hands on construction. Project managers liaise with the client, architects, design engineers and internal site teams to ensure that the scheme is on track. They chair project meetings, check on schedule regularly and provide progress reports to the client and their own directors. Project Managers can also work with design consultancies and developers, where they often represent the client or project owner directly and have mainly office based role with some site visits.
