SECURITY & NETWORK ENGINEER

Role:

The Network and Security Specialist's role is to ensure the stable and secure operation of in-house routers, switches, firewalls, and associated security applications. This includes planning, configuring, maintaining and supporting all network hardware and security products. The network is at present deployed over two sites in the Dublin area one of these operating as the main site and the other as a hot standby. Both sites must be maintained in an operational state on a 24*7 basis.

Responsibilities:

• Development, support and enhancement of the network.

• Development and implementation of security standards.

• Ensuring the 24 hour availability and security of the network.

• Making scheduled changes to firewalls as required in order to provide secure access in accordance with security policy.

• Providing technical and planning input to all new applications and alterations to ensure compliance with our security model and network standards.

• Active monitoring of network devices and links and network capacity planning.

• Troubleshooting network performance and connectivity issues. Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

Essential:

• In depth knowledge of LAN and WAN networking using Cisco routers and multilayer switches, with at least 3 years working in a senior network role.

Cisco CCNA qualification

• Good working knowledge in the support and configuration of Checkpoint and PIX firewalls, and the Nokia platform.

• Experience of working in an environment with complex and high levels of security.

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Have demonstrated flexibility and motivational skills

• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable:

• Experience of working in a high-availability environment

• Knowledge of business

• Experience in network capacity planning, management and monitoring.

• Cisco CCNP qualification

• Practical working knowledge of Symantec products and Bluecoat.
