SENIOR ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY OFFICER

Midlands based Manufacturing Facility seek a Site EHS Officer who will be responsible and have the authority to develop and administer the plant Health & Safety Programmes with special emphasis on employee safety and education, direct and control internal/external environment. Reporting to The HR Manager

Main Duties:

1. Manage, implement and promote Environmental, Health & Safety policies and standards to comply with corporate and regulatory bodies. Respond to and report on regulatory changes by implementing changes for compliance.

2. Provide advice and service to all levels of the organisation on safety and health matters.

3. Monitor safety and training programmes for effectiveness.

4. Review the safety and health aspects of new substances equipment, plant modifications and layout.

5. Where health hazards or potential health hazards exist, co-ordinate occupational hygiene monitoring to evaluate employee exposure.
6. Co-ordinate the provision of first aid supplies and training the provision of occupational health supervision and monitoring where appropriate.

7. Evaluate safety equipment, including personal protective equipment, and set standards for selection and use.

8. To compile accident data and liaise with Insurance Company and Brokers in relation to the Company's Employer Liability Programme.

9. Revise the Safety Statement as required and ensure all employees are familiar with its contents.

10. Develop programmes and policies to ensure effective management and control of water, wastewater, air emissions and solid waste on site.
11. Ensure compliance with relevant Company and Corporate requirements and legislation governing health and safety as principally contained in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 1993. 


Personnel Specification:

A technical degree in Environmental Safety, Engineering or Science with a post graduate qualification in EHS essential.
- Member of IOSH
- Knowledge of chemical registration (REACH) would be desirable
- 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment ideally in the medical device/pharma area. - a knowledge and experience of ETO Sterilization processes.
