BUSINESS ANALYST - FINANCIAL

Purpose:

• To design and deliver appropriate business solutions meeting business needs whilst ensuring current designs work with the approach within the technical architecture

• To perform all aspects of the development lifecycle from detailed requirements specification through to providing support for the systems implementations

Responsibilities:

• Gathering, analysing, communicating and validating requirements for changes to business processes, policies and information systems

• Gather requirements, specify and develop new products

• Work with business users to scope requirements

• Initiate, request and co-ordinate the organisation of meetings and workshops as required

• Facilitate requirements gathering meetings with the business

• Validates info provided where appropriate to effectively specify the business and functional requirements to the required standard

• Responsible for all business aspects of the development lifecycle from impact assessments on projects through to implementation

• To adhere to analysis standards and QA processes

• To work with the respective business teams to define the changes to the business solution resulting from the implementation of technological enhancements and other automated business solutions

• Work closely with technical team to ensure business needs and technical solutions are appropriately aligned

• To undertake business process analysis of key business processes, driving out requisite information and achieving consensus in respect to "As Is" and "To Be" NUIL processes following up with appropriate documentation

• Validating the "To Be" process and challenging all assumptions. Ensure that the solution supports business growth

• Completing impact assessments and gap analysis for project related requirements and change requests

• Provide support for systems implementations

• Identify, investigate and progress through to resolution any issues that arise

• Provide support to the continuous improvement of the business analysis framework

• Support project and programme management as required

• Support analysis team members, provision of technical expertise and guidance - review and agree outputs of junior team members

Experience:

• Involvement in entire project life cycle from inception to delivery

• An experienced Business Analyst, who has worked in a variety of technical environments and can demonstrate an ability to develop an in-depth understanding of our overall applications

• Experience of working on Business Process mapping

• Broad experience of customising mission critical applications and experience of working with the life cycle development process; scoping, facilitating workshops, requirements gathering; systems analysis and design, development, rollout and support.

 Must have a background in Financial services

Qualifications:

• IT related 3rd level qualification (e.g. computer science degree or similar)
 
Skills / Knowledge

• Highly motivated

• Strong analytical skills  - proven track record

• Confident in hosting requirements gathering workshops with the business

• Strong understanding of the Life Assurance industry/offshore investment market

• Must have broad understanding of the full software development lifecycle

• Contribution to project scope and ensuring adherence to it, monitoring of change requests

• Ability to manage users expectations

• Excellent communication and influencing skills, including clear and logical presentation and facilitation skills.

• Can demonstrate effective organisational skills

• Very strong team player

• Excellent business process mapping and notations skills - Experience in performing business modelling and the generation of AS-IS -> TO-BE operating scenarios
