Applications are invited for the role of Graduate Scientist within the Claim Support NPD Team.

Reporting to the Claim Support Manager, the successful candidate will investigate and present scientific evidence in order to support product claims in a novel and creative manner, within the timeframes of NPD. He/she will also investigate innovative approaches and claims for cosmetic products, working closely with claim support, formulation, testing, regulatory and marketing departments. The candidate will also liaise with external testing houses, raw material suppliers and finished product subcontractors and external consultants.

Responsibilities:

1. To present in a creative way scientific support data to marketing in a consumer understandable manner.

2. Communicate effectively within cross functional categories.

3. Advise and confirm achievable product claims in the pre-brief and brief assessments.

4. Work with formulation chemist to select the correct raw materials and levels to achieve product claims.

5. Work with claim support scientist and external test laboratories to develop test protocols to substantiate product claims and coordinate tests to within the agreed NPD timeframes.

6. Create Product Claims Reports based on proposed and confirmed claims.

7. Issue Product Efficacy Reports to regulatory within NPD timeframes.

8. Keep up to date with new evaluation methods and techniques for skin care and other cosmetics products.

9. Develop an expertise in the biological benefits and physical attributes of skin care, colour and other cosmetic products.

Qualifications:

Graduate level in a  scientific discipline.

1-2 years working in a similar role in the cosmetic / pharmaceutical industry.
